Teamtsters Local 406’s Member’s Daughter Wins $10,000 James R. Hoffa
Memorial Scholarship!
Caitlin Morrow, daughter of Teamsters
Local 406 and Spartan Stores warehouseman David Morrow, was one of 31
lucky students chosen to receive a $10,000 James R. Hoffa Memorial
Scholarship. This
scholarship, available to all Teamster member’s children and
grandchildren who are in the top 15% of their class, is a nationwide
competition. The
scholarship is highly competitive and a great accomplishment to which
Caitlin’s father, David, says she has worked very hard for.
Caitlin just recently graduated, 2nd in her class,
from West Catholic
High School.
Her excellent grades, impressive ACT and SAT scores, and many
extracurricular activities all helped earn her this scholarship.
Student government, jazz band, art club, choir, quiz bowl, and
participating in many school plays and musicals has kept her very busy
during her high school years.
Caitlin also has taken numerous honors classes, won many academic
awards, and is in the National Honors Society.
Outside of school, Caitlin enjoys reading, drawing and swing
dancing. She doesn’t have
many big plans for the summer because she is busy preparing to move to
Texas
where she will be attending the University
of Texas at Dallas.
She plans to study for a career in medical research.
Caitlin comes from a strong union family who have taught her to
work hard. Her dad, David
Morrow, has been with Spartan Stores and a member of Teamsters Local 406
for 22 years. Her mom, Mary
Luther-Morrow, is a member of the MEA and has served on the bargaining
committee and her grandfather, Charles Luther, was a member of the UAW
where he also served as a steward.
Congratulations Caitlin on your hard work!
General Teamsters Local Union No. 406 is proud to have one of our
member’s children win this prestigious award!
